Donald Buren Obituary

 Donald S Buren, 80, of West Salem died Thursday August 15, 2019 at his home.  Don was born in Glenmont, OH on November 10, 1938, the son of Emil and Mary Buren.

Don graduated from Glenmont High School and joined the Navy in 1956, serving aboard the USS Henley.

He is survived by his wife Teara, sons Tim (Sharon) of Galena and Jeff (Karen) of Ashland, step-children Ric (Melissa) of CA and Angela (Dusty) of Ashland, brothers James of Killbuck and Lawrence (Audrey) of CA, grandchildren Justin, Lindsey, Hannah, Brooklyn, Olivia, Mitya, Katie, Dustin and Esmé, Great-Grandchildren Kirra, Davis, Lilah, Charlotte, Emily, Carsyn, Anya, Ivan, Cedric, Noah, Elijah and Everly, and 19 nieces and nephews.

Don was the founder of Buren Insurance Group in 1968, a member of Congress Community Church for 46 years, member of Farmer’s State Bank Board, Wayne County Community Foundation, Holmes-Wayne Electric Board, West Salem Masonic Lodge 398, Oriental Chapter 128, West Salem Ruritans and West Salem Planning Commission and Tree Committee.

Don will be remembered for his deep faith, love, dedication and support of his family and friends, his big heart, and his service to our country and the community.

Deceased by his parents, brothers Jack Buren and Bob Buren, sisters Betty Shannon, Evelyn Christopher, Carol Garretson, Alta Savant and Ida Mellor.

Calling hours will Tuesday, August 20th at Congress Community Church from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Masonic Service will follow. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday August 21 at 11:00 a.m with Pastor Christopher Cottrel officiating with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Killbuck Cemetery where military rights will be conducted by Killbuck VFW.

Memorial donations may be made to Congress Community Church Scholarship Fund, 10691 Franchester Road, West Salem, Ohio 44287 or LifeCare Hospice, 1900 Akron Road, Wooster, Ohio 44691.

The family is grateful to Dr. Paul Masci of Cleveland Clinic, Wooster. His compassionate care over the last five years will never be forgotten. Also to Mark and Angie of LifeCare Hospice for their compassionate at-home care.
