Curtis E (Sonny) Daniels, 85 of Akron formerly of Homerville died Tuesday May 1, 2018 at his home.
Funeral Services will be Monday May 7, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church, 80 East Buckeye Street, West Salem with Pastors Beryl Baum and Floyd Costello officiating. Friends will be received at the Matteson Funeral Home, 40 Congress St., West Salem on Sunday evening 6:00 to 8:00. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery with military rites conducted by James Stevenson American Legion Post 499. Memorials contributions may be given to the United Methodist Church, 80 East Buckeye Street, West Salem, Ohio 44287.
Curtis was born February 2, 1933 in Cleveland the son of Squire & Juet (Williams) Daniels. He married Lea Chapman on March 1, 1971 who died on September 27, 2014.
He served in the Army during the Korean War. He was president of health and welfare division for the Teamster Union.
Curtis was a Life Member of the North American Fishing Club, NRA and the United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his daughter, Cherrie Reger-Watson and her husband Greg, daughter-in-law, Melanie Chapman, grandson, Earl Ray Chapman, his sisters, Millie Brown and her husband, Tyree, Gloria Byrd and her husband, Fred and Theresa Clark and a sister-in-law, Equilla and a host of nieces and nephews.
Also preceding him in death, sons, Jerry Everhart, Curtis Daniels and Ray Chapman, sisters, Mary Daniels, Lillian Max and Nora Stewart and her husband Carl and brothers, Gilbert Daniels and Elroy Daniels.
