Opal M Smith, 87  of West Salem died Thursday August 18, 2016 at Burbank Parke in Burbank.

Funeral Services will be Monday August 22, 2016 @ 11:00 a.m. at the Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem with Pastors, Beryl Baum and Floyd Costello officiating.

Friends will be received Sunday 4:00 to 7:00 at the funeral home.  Burial in West Salem Cemetery.  Memorials may be given to Town & Country Fire and Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 175, West Salem, Ohio  44287 or LifeCare Hospice, 1900 Akron Rd, Wooster, OH 44691.  Online condolences may be shared at the funeral home website at mattesonfh.com.

She was born February 26, 1929 in West Salem the daughter of James & Grace (Allen) Neiswinter.

She graduated from West Salem High School.

 She  lived  and raised her family in West Salem. She was a homemaker and enjoyed being with family, holidays and traveling.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church where she had been a Sunday school teacher.

She was a former member of the Rebekah Lodge and 50 Plus Club of West Salem.

She is survived by children, Howard Smith, Maretta(Dennis)Warner and Laura(Jamie)Kelling all of West Salem, grandchildren, Jennifer(Vinny)Turner of Wooster and Scott Warner of West Salem, great grandchildren, Jayla, Jalyssa & Tevin Turner of Wooster and nieces and nephews.

Her parents, Husband, Ferd whom she married April  15, 1947 and sisters, Helen Rufener and Ethel Howell died previously
