    Opal Peacock, 95, of Congress died peacefully on Tuesday January 2, 2017 at LifeCare Hospice in Wooster after a period of declining health.

   Opal was born Opal Mae Howman on January 8, 1921, in Wayne County to her beloved parents Earl and Fay (Lindsey) Howman.  After graduating from Burbank High School, she married Frank Peacock on February 13, 1940.  They were happily married 57 years until Frank's death.  Opal lived her entire life in Wayne County where she and Frank owned a farm in Chester Township.

    Opal was a devoted wife, daughter, sister, mother and grandmother and a long-time member of Congress Community Church where she taught Sunday and vacation Bible school.  Opal was also a homemaker who was kind, gracious, and generous.  Her home was always a welcoming place for her family and friends.  She was the heart of her family and will be deeply missed.

 

    Surviving are her children and their spouses, Gary Peacock of Congress , Ronald and Gaile Peacock of Pleasant Home, Joyce and Edward Bocock of South Haven, MI, and Cheryl and John Pamer of Burbank as well as 10 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.  Her siblings Donna Flickinger, Wanda Glasgo, and Weldon Howman also survive.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three brothers, two sisters, and an infant granddaughter.

    The family extends special gratitude to Andrew and her caregivers Laura, Joyce, and Sharon.

    Friends may call at Congress Community Church at 11am on Saturday January 7, 2017.   A Funeral l service officiated by Pastor Christopher Cottrel will be at Noon followed by food and fellowship in the church hall.   Burial will follow immediately at Congress Cemetery. Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem is handling the arrangements.  Online condolences may be shared at the funeral home website at mattesonfh.com

 

    In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Opal's name to Congress Community Church, Congress Cemetery, and Lifecare Hospice of Wayne County.
