Marylin (Cookie) Stephenson, 72 of West Salem died Sunday February 14, 2016 at Akron City Hospital.
Funeral Service will be Saturday February 20, 2016 @ 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady Help Christians Parish, 60 High Street, Seville. Visitation will be Friday 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 at the Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to the Northwestern Ruritan memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Becky Burkholder, 7571 North Elyria Road, West Salem, Ohio 44287. She was born June 1, 1943 in Lodi, Ohio the daughter of Cecil & Mary Helen (Grube) Palmer.She retired after 35 years from Westfield Insurance Co where she was an underwriter.
She was the first women member of the Northwestern Ruritan Club where she served as the first women president, DAR, NRA and Our Lady Help Christian Parish.
She traveled to 49 out of the 50 states, six states in Mexico, and seven providences in Canada. She enjoyed sending all occasion greeting cards and loved cats.
She is survived by her husband, Jim Stephenson whom she married in 1988, son, Terry (Chip) and Cheryl Fitzpatrick of Wooster, 4 grandchildren, step children, Brian Stephenson of Holmes Co., Ann Stephenson of Cleveland, Karen (Steve) Payne of Florida, Dale (Deanna) Stephenson, brother, Jerry (Lana) Palmer of Delaware and sister, Barbara Boyes of Wooster.
Her parents, sisters, Betty Mann and Beverly George and an infant brother, Billy Palmer died previously.
