Eugene L Hines

Eugene L Hines, 89 of Wooster died Wednesday morning December 7, 2016 at his home in Wooster.

Funeral Services will be Saturday December 10, 2016  at  2:00 p.m.  at the Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem with Pastors, Beryl Baum and Floyd Costello officiating. Visitation will be  three hours prior to the service at the funeral home.  Online condolences may be shared at the funeral home website at mattesonfh.com.  Burial will be at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.  Memorials may be given to LifeCare Hospice,  1900 Akron Rd, Wooster, OH 44691 of Wayne County Veterans Services, 356 W. North St, Lower Level, Wooster, OH 44691.

He was born November 23, 1927 in West Salem the son of Elmer and Mildred(Gault)Hines.

He graduated from West Salem High School.

He served in the US Army during the Korean War, where he received a purple heart.

He retired after 37 years from Sarver Paving in Ashland.

He was a lifetime member of West Salem American Legion Post 499, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Amvets Post 149 and Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of the West Salem United Methodist Church.

Gene is survived by his wife, Judy(Brooks) Hines whom he married in 1967, children, Karen(Larry)Adkins, Pat(Scott)Thiel, Tina(Junior)Mowrer, Dena(Phil)Kimpton and Mike (Melissa-Cairnie)Hines, grandchildren, Nick, Bryan(Amber), Amy, Amanda, Brittany, Darryl and Zach, great grandchildren, Kylee, Jesse, Kayden,  Aaron, Richard, Emma, Kayla, Cassaundra and Ryker, a brother, Donald(Juanita)Hines, and sisters, Dorothy Dickinson, Beryl Baum and Betty(Ted) Workinger.

His parents, great grandson, Adrian Joseph Tompkins and brothers, Robert, Ellsworth, James and Doyle Hines and an infant sister, Margaret Jane Hines died previously.
